Physical Activity Program

Homepage for Physical Activity Classes (non-degree)

The Department of Health and Sport Sciences (HSS) coordinates the Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyles classes as a non-degree service program for UofL students, staff and faculty. These classes are designed to promote physical activity and lifetime fitness and wellness skills, to establish peer relationships, and to aid in stress management.

Physical Activity Classes

HSS provides classes in dance, swim, scuba, martial arts, aerobic fitness, weight training, individual and group fitness classes, team sports, snow sports, and many other areas. Each activity class also is available for 1 hour course credit.

Healthy Lifestyles Classes

The department also offers Safety and Healthy Lifestyles courses:

  • HSS 180 - CPR and First Aid, certifying students with the American Red Cross (3 credit hours).
  • HSS 184 - Healthy Lifestyles, an exploration of the relationship of human characteristics and behaviors to wellness (3 credit hours).
  • HSS 310 - A community based approach to addressing health issues facing Americans in the 21st century (3 credit hours).
