Teaching & Learning Undergraduate Early Elementary Education Degrees
The Department of Teaching and Learning offers a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education. This leads to certification in grades P-5.

The Department also offers a certification program for students who possess an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, and who wish to pursue certification in Early Childhood Education only. The BS in Early Elementary Education with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education leads to certification, Birth to Age 5.
The Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education offers undergraduates options for obtaining grades P-5 certification in combination with concentrations in six specific teaching areas: Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, and French. Dual certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth to Age 5), Learning and Behavior Disorders (P-12), and Moderate and Severe Disabilities (P-12) is also available.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the professional program occurs once per year - every fall. The admission deadline is typically February 1st for fall admission.
Minimum of 45 semester credit hours required for admission to the professional program
Minimum 2.75 overall grade point average (suggested)
Successful completion of EDTP 201, EDTP 107, Math 151, and MATH 152 with a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher
ACT minimum composite Score of 21 (suggested)
"C" or better in English 102 and Speech Communication course
Gaining insightful experience and networking is important. As a part of the application process you will need three (3) letters of recommendation: one from a university/college faculty member, one concerning your work in the community (for example: employer, church, organizations, etc.), and one that describes your ability to work with children.
Admission to the teacher education program is competitive. The admission decision will be made by the professional judgment of the screening committee. Preference will be given to applicants who have strong academic records and positive experiences, abilities and an attitude that shows promise of a successful classroom teacher.

Graduates will earn Kentucky teacher certification in Early Elementary Education, grades P-5.
