The Department of Teaching & Learning offers several baccalaureate programs for those seeking teacher certification at both elementary and middle/secondary levels.

Early Elementary Education

Undergraduate students interested in becoming an early elementary education teacher may participate in our Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education program. This program offers students the choice between eleven differing concentrations that offer the possibility for dual certification at the completion of the program. Our undergraduate teacher education programs have a second tier admission process that is competitive.

Middle & Secondary Education

Students who want to become a middle or high school teacher in the state of Kentucky may participate in our Bachelor of Science in Middle and Secondary Education. This degree program offers seventeen differing concentrations that allow students to pursue certification from middle school mathematics to French education for all grades. Along with the teacher education curriculum, students will complete course work equivalent to majors in the content area they wish to teach. Admission to the professional portion of the program is competitive.

Detailed requirements for completing these degrees are provided in the UofL Undergraduate Catalog.
