Teaching & Learning Masters Degrees for Initial Certification
The Department of Teaching & Learning offers the following Masters degrees for those seeking initial teacher certification. Our college offers monthly Information Sessions for those interested in the MAT program. Registration is required for these free sessions.

General Admission Requirements
Prospective students must submit an on-line application for admission to the University of Louisville Graduate School. Applicants must also submit a supplemental initial teacher certification application to the Office of Education Admissions by stated deadlines. As part of the application process, students are required to submit all official transcripts. The minimum requirement for admission is the baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Applicant may be asked to take additional undergraduate coursework prior to program admission.
Each applicant is required to submit three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant's skills and ability in academic and professional areas, and work with children.
Each applicant is required to submit official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Students are must have a suggested minimum combined score of 800 for competitive admissions.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all foreign students from countries in which English is not the native language. Students holding a baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited institution in the United States are exempt from this requirement.
For competitive admission, students must have a suggested minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average, or 2.75 grade point average for the junior and senior college years.
