MEd in Instructional Technology

Technology has brought change to the work of organizations of all types. Significant changes are seen in the use of technology in instruction and the delivery of instruction via technology. Yet, technology is primarily a tool that serves content. Its impact is largely dependent upon the appropriate design of the information and instruction delivered through technology.

Teachers of preschool through Grade 12 may obtain a masters degree, Rank I, second masters degree, and/or endorsement for P-12 Instructional Computer Technology (approved 2005 and based upon International Society for Technology in Education Standards) to complement their base teaching certificate. UofL collaborates with Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) to offer this program as the Technology Leadership Institute (TLI).

Graduates serve as computer-using teacher leaders in their schools and as Technology Coordinators at school and district levels. This program is offered on-site at JCPS and the current emphasis is laptop computing. Preparation for IT Certifications is an option in this program.

Detailed requirements for completing this degree are provided in the UofL Graduate Catalog.

If you are not a P-12 teacher but are interested in instructional technology, Industry IT certifications, instructional design, and state-of-the-art training development for military, government, and private industry, see the web pages for B.S. Workforce Leadership and M.S. Human Resource Education.
