High School Pilot

The Kentucky Department of Education in partnership with the University of Louisville College of Education and Human Development are collaborating with high school teachers from across the state to design units of study targeting high school government and civics content.  The units of study are designed to be implemented in a variety of social studies courses including: Integrated Social Studies, U.S. History, World Civilizations or to be used for a Government and Civics Course.

The units are designed using Wiggin's and McTighe's Understanding by Design planning principles and include differentiated instruction, technology, content presented from multiple perspectives, formative and summative assessments, and opportunities for students to be engaged with local and state government and their communities.
