Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What do I need to do to register, how much will it cost, and how will the conference work.  These are some of the most common questions we receive. In an effort to explain these questions we have developed a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) that explain some of these common inquiries.  Please read the information below and if you have more questions please contact Barbara Kinney at b.kinney@louisville.edu or 502-852-3274.

How can I find out more about the online summer institute?  To find out more please go to our main conference page located at http://louisville.edu/education/ciidl/summer08.

How do I register?  To register for this free online summer institute please go to our registration page located at http://louisville.edu/education/ciidl/summer08/registration.  Registration is not required but it will be the primary way to receive important conference details and login information for the online sessions.

How much does the conference cost?  The conference is a free service provided by the Center for Innovation and Instruction for Diverse Learners (CIIDL) at the University of Louisville and the KY Dept of Education.

How can I find out who else has registered?  To obtain an up-to-date list of conference registrants, email Barbara Kinney at b.kinney@louisville.edu with the phrase "list of conference registrants" in your subject line.

How will the conference work?  The conference is one of the first of its kind in Kentucky to be held entirely in a virtual setting (i.e. totally online).  Attendees will log in to GoToWebinar and be able to see session presenters' visual presentations on their computer screens. To hear the presenters speak, attendees will dial a toll-free telephone number. (No sound will come through computer speakers.)  Information about how to access the online sessions is posted at http://louisville.edu/education/ciidl/summer08/accessing-the-summer-institute-sessions.html.

After each session in GoToWebinar, attendees will go to our WordPress blog (http://UDL1.wordpress.com).  This webpage will host the discussion area where attendees will have the opportunity to chat with presenters after their session is over. Also, pre-recorded sessions will be hosted on the WordPress site, and attendees will be able to download any session handouts or materials made available by the presenters from this location.

How can I get help or I’m confused and need to speak with someone?  For general info please call 502-852-3274 before June 18th.  For technical support during the institute (June 18 & 19), call 502-852-2614.

Will professional development credit be offered?  The Kentucky Department of Education has approved up to 14 hours of EILA credit.  At the end of the institute each participant will receive a participation certificate.  EILA credit will be granted for each session hour of participation and the completion of the corresponding session rating forms.

Who should attend?  The online institute is aligned to the needs of PreK-12 teachers, both regular and special educators, administrators, technology specialists, library media specialists, parents, and educational consultants.

What if I am unable to attend the entire conference?  All conference sessions will be recorded and made available for download after the conference ends. However, PD/EILA credit will not be issued for viewing recorded sessions after the conference.
