How Your Generosity Works for the CEHD
The list below illustrates just some of the ways the generosity of the CEHD's alumni and friends has helped to enhance the work of the college.
- Classroom and Building Enhancements
- New computer lab - This year the CEHD installed a new computer lab to accommodate a classroom of 40 students.
- Building renovations - Enhancements were made to the CEHD lobby, making the building a bit more comfortable for students who gather to meet and study.
- Scholarship Support
Collectively, gifts from alumni and friends have helped provide scholarships to nearly 50 deserving students. More scholarships will be awarded again for the spring and summer terms. Donors have given these and other generous scholarships:- Legacy Teacher Scholarship Fund
- Atkins-Husk Minority Teacher Scholarship Fund
- Sherrill Brakmeier Scholarship Fund
- William F. Kelly Scholarship Fund
- Eleanor Young Love Scholarship Fund
- Program Support
- Math/Science Center gifts - The college has been able to increase programs to enhance the skills of math and science teachers. Studies show that achievement gaps in math and science are greatly reduced when students are taught by the highly skilled math and science teachers.
- Gifts to the CEHD - Your support helps the college invest in start up and partnership programs with schools and other organizations to provide direct services to families and children throughout the Metro Louisville area and beyond.
- Gifts to Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC) - Donations last year to the KATC were used to purchase books and materials for teh Amanda L. King Resource Library. The library is a leader in the state for providing accurate information to families, educators and service providers to enhance the quality of life of individuals with autism in the community, at home and during school.
