To serve on a KTIP committee, a person shall complete an EPSB approved training. The KTIP committee training may be approved for up to 12 hours of professional development credit toward the continuing education requirements for resource teachers and Effective Instructional Leadership Act (EILA) credit for administrators..

The Kentucky Teacher Internship Program was designed to offer support to new teachers and encourages a culture of continuous professional growth. Using the New Teacher Standards adopted by Kentucky's Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) in 1993, KTIP facilitates the transition from teacher preparation through induction. A three-member committee comprised of the principal, resource teacher, and university-appointed teacher educator guide and assess the intern's progress throughout the first year of teaching. The principal serves as chair of the committee.
Those who will serve on intern committees are required to complete an online assignment prior to the training session. Instructions for enrolling and materials for completion of the assignment can be downloaded [DOC] for use. Anticipated completion time for this assignment is four hours.
All face-to-face training sessions are scheduled to last one full day. Please register for one date only. The cutoff date for registration is five days prior to the training. If a session is canceled for any reason participants will be notified and given opportunity to enroll for another date. Training sessions are scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM.
