Martin Luther King Commemorative Service
U of L’s Martin L. King, Jr. Commemoration Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, January 18th at the Playhouse located on the corners of Cardinal at 2nd and 3rd Streets in its Freedom Park. The African American Theatre Program of the University of Louisville’s Theatre Arts Department in conjunction with the Office of Business Affairs will sponsor the event.

Services will feature presentations by U of L students and members of the community of a Kentucky Black History on Parade featuring Kentucky elders and ancestors who have made significant contributions by being the first in their field to provide service to the state, country, and the world. Please bring the children so they can learn positive history about Kentucky African Americans and important knowledge for which to be proud!
Students will impersonate major contributions of Georgia Davis Powers, Moneta Sleet, Elmer Lucille Allen, Mae Kidd Street, Todd Duncan, Murray Atkins Walls, Stephen Bishop, Effie Waller Smith and Emma C. Clement and many others. Our Vice President of Business Affairs, Mr. Larry Owsley will present the history of Freedom Park and update the audience on its development. #########
