- On Tuesday, Jan. 22 (the day after the MLK Jr Holiday) at 1:00 pm in the Allen Courtroom, the Brandeis School of Law Diversity Committee will host attorney Steve Porter who will deliver a speech about Dr. King. Steve was the chair of the law school speakers committee in 1967 and arranged for Dr. King to speak at the law school in the Allen Courtroom less than a year before Dr. King’s death.

- He will be sharing some thoughts about his experience on death row, as well as his campaign to abolish the death penalty. The case against Steidl was based entirely on two (now discredited) eye-witnesses; he maintained his innocence but it was not until several journalism students from Northwestern University got involved that his case really got another look.
