The University of Louisville College of Arts & Sciences Office of Outreach Programs in collaboration with The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage…..Presents the 2011 Spring Film Festival. The following film is intended for Family Entertainment and shown FREE at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please provide your own lunch.

“Akeelah and the Bee”: A precocious 11-year-old girl from south Los Angeles with a gift for words, Akeelah, enters various spelling contests despite the objections of her mother. Akeelah's aptitude earns her an opportunity to compete for a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. This unites her neighbors who witness the courage and inspiration of one amazing little girl.
