White Coat Ceremony, a symbolic step for UofL students

Incoming UofL dental and dental hygiene students proudly donned their new coats during the White Coat ceremony August 24, marking their first rite of passage into the health care community. The 120 DMD students were chosen from 2,981 applicants. These students are from 25 different states, with one international student from Korea.

The University of Louisville values not only geographic diversity, but racial and ethnic diversity with 22 percent of the students in this class representing minority populations.

DMD Class of 2017 academic averages:

  • Overall GPA of 3.51
  • Science GPA 3.39
  • DAT Academic Average 19
  • DAT Perceptual Ability Average 20

The dental hygiene class of 2015 is an ethnically diverse group of 30 students from Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Virginia, with six students admitted through the new early admission program. About 17 percent of the students are from underrepresented populations.
