2013 AAP Award Recipients

The American Academy of Periodontology recognizes some of the most promising dental students and dedicated educators each year.

The Dental Student Award for Achievement in Periodontology is awarded to a senior who displays outstanding performance in periodontics. The Dental Student Award for Achievement in Periodontology is underwritten by a generous grant from the Procter and Gamble Company. In 2013, the Academy granted 65 recipients this award.

The 2013 Dental Student Award Recipient at University of Louisville is Joseph Jankovich.

The Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics Award is awarded to a periodontal educator at each school whom demonstrates a commitment to excellence in providing education in the full scope of clinical periodontics, and relays that enthusiasm to students. In 2013, the Academy granted 50 recipients this award.

The 2013 Outstanding Educator Award Recipient at University of Louisville is Dr. Lewis Dowden.

Established in 2008, the Distinguished Service Award is presented to an AAP member selected for distinguished service to the Academy in more than one area, over a period of not less than 20 years.

The 2013 Distinguished Service Award Recipient is Dr. Henry Greenwell.
