Hazel Ozuna awarded F31 fellowship

 PhD candidate Hazel Ozuna

Ms. Hazel Ozuna is currently a PhD candidate in the Microbiology & Immunology Department working in the lab of Dr. Donald R. Demuth.  Ms. Ozuna was awarded a NIH F31 grant for funding of her dissertation project titled: “Exploitation of the host immune response by Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans mediated by QseBC”.

The findings of this project will shed light in the mechanism of iron sequestration by A. actinomycetemcomitans from the host environment, serving as a foundation for the development of potential therapeutic targets.
