Early Admission to Dentistry (ULEAD) Program

ULEAD for high school seniors

 

 The University of Louisville School of Dentistry offers early admission opportunities to exceptional high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to pursue a lifelong career in dentistry.





Requirements to apply:

  • 3.75 GPA (unweighted)
  • 30 ACT or 1360 SAT
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Minimum of 12 hours of general dental observation
  • Meet and maintain minimum technical standards
  • Essay addressing how you arrived at this career goal (1,000 words or less)

Application process:

  • Applicants must have been admitted to the University of Louisville
  • Submit the ULEAD application online by December 15 of their senior year
  • Select students will participate in an interview process

 Minimum Requirements for ULEAD program while attending UofL:

  • Maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA, as well as a 3.5 GPA in biology, chemistry and physics courses while successfully completing the pre-requisite courses for admission to ULSD. 
  • In addition to the required pre-requisite courses for the DMD application, students must also complete Preview to Dentistry (BIOL 396)
  • Score at or above the national average on each section of the DAT (a minimum score of 17 is required even if the national average dips below 17)
  • Attend required ULEAD meetings and events (approximately one per semester)
  • Maintain membership in UofL’s Predental Society
  • Participate in a minimum of four dental related/ULEAD activities
  • Other requirements are outlined in the ULEAD Policies guide (provided to students at interview)
ULEAD program participants are expected to have a record of outstanding academic performance as well as exemplary initiative, dedication, and leadership that reflects their maturity, insight, and full potential as a member of the dental profession. While not a specific requirement, there is an expectation that the participant develops a profile consistent with the goals of our educational community. Each participant should have an outstanding record of leadership, scholarship, and service that prepares him/her for the responsibility of becoming a member of the dental profession.
