Dr. Scott holds a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University, Quebec. He is an Associate Professor at the Oral Health and Systemic Disease Research Group here at the Dental School and is also appointed in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Dr. Scott is the current Treasurer of the International Association for the Prevention of Tobacco-Induced Diseases. His research is on the interactions between tobacco smoke and the immune system, with a particular focus on mechanisms of tobacco-induced periodontitis.  He has a long-standing interest in graduate education.
