• Fundamentals and problem solving in dental biomaterials, new product development;  prosthodontics, and restorative dentistry;  clinical trials;  in vivo / in vitro correlation of clinical performance;  tarnish and corrosion of metals;  polymer substitutes for metals and ceramics in dentistry;  resilient denture liners and facial prosthetic materials;  wear and abrasion;  toxic responses of materials;  high school science fair activities.
• Finishing U01 NIH-funded multicenter phase III controlled, randomized, prospective single-crossover clinical trial in maxillofacial prosthetics;  $2,902,479, funded August 21, 2003 – May 31, 2009
• Mouth guards that improve performance to motivate use by athletes, military, and workers.
• Hand washing studies for health care workers who wear finger rings under gloves
• Replica implants
• Facial transplants (with Kleinert-Kutz & Associates Hand Center)
