Future Plans of the DMD and DH Classes of 2012

The ULSD proudly graduated 82 senior DMD students on May 12, 2012 at the SBTS Alumni Chapel in Louisville. Continuing the diversity of class, they have chosen several different career paths in many varied locations. Of those graduating, 20 of the 41 going into private practice plan to stay in Kentucky. A total of 27 will be going into residency programs that include prosthodontics (1), periodontics (1), pedodontics (3), Orthodontics (2), oral maxillofacial surgery (2), general practice residency (12) and advanced education graduate dentistry (7). Four others will be serving in public health practice and 15 will go into military service in the Navy (6), Army (7), Air Force (1) and an undetermined branch of the service (1). One student also will be practicing community dentistry in her home state of Alaska and others are still finalizing the career plans. The faculty, administration and staff sent them off with confidence that they, along with all those ULSD graduates  before them, will carry out the School’s mission to  provide quality dental care and serve the community to fulfill our urban and statewide missions.

On May 12, 2012, the ULSD awarded 26 students with the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. More than 90% of them will remain here to practice in the state of Kentucky. DH graduates will also look to practice in the states of Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas. More than 1/2 of the graduates plan to work in private practice.
