- University of Louisville dental school visitors will enter through a new front door beginning Jan. 3. The public will enter from the east side of the building — what traditionally has been the back of the school, instead of coming in from Preston Street.

A Community Effort to Improve Children’s Dental Health
- FEBRUARY 4, 2011, LOUISVILLE, KY - -Over 120 children will receive free, comprehensive dental treatment today, thanks to Smile Kentucky!, a community partnership that addresses what the U.S. Surgeon General calls “the most common unmet health need in the nation.” The University of Louisville School of Dentistry and six dental offices will host children from Bullitt, Trimble, Henry and Meade Counties.

- Middle and high school students from the Newcomer Academy at Shawnee were welcomed with smiles at the UofL School of Dentistry. Many of these students who are from countries around the world have never been treated by a dentist. This is another example of UofL's role in the community.

UofL dental school to offer free oral cancer screenings at the KY State Fair
- For the 19th consecutive year, the University of Louisville School of Dentistry will offer free oral cancer screenings in partnership with the Kentucky Cancer Program and Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield at the Kentucky State Fair. A UofL dental student started the project in 1992, and it remains an important community service through student and faculty participation.

UofL School of Dentistry expands its outreach to southeastern Kentucky
- LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nearly 40 University of Louisville dental and dental hygiene students will help provide free dental care Sept. 17-18 to people in and around Somerset, Ky. through Remote Area Medical (RAM), a non-profit organization that serves people in remote areas of the United States and around the world.

Nearly 500 receive free dental care in Somerset
- UofL School of Dentistry students and faculty helped provide 862 extractions, 233 fillings, 104 cleanings and 14 exams on the 497 people seeking dental care at the Somerset RAM clinic.

UofL School of Dentistry celebrates the completion of $45 million renovation
- The University of Louisville marked the completion of a two-year renovation with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the end of September. The $45 million project added more than 20,000 sq. feet and renovated another 211,000 sq. feet. The school had received few updates since it moved from Brook and Broadway to Preston Street in 1970.

UofL dental students to host a 5K walk-run and shoe drive to benefit local and international children
- University of Louisville School of Dentistry students invite the community to take part in the 3rd annual Beat the Pumpkin 5K Walk/Run Oct. 22 at Cherokee Park. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and the race starts at 9:30 a.m at Hogan’s Fountain. All proceeds will benefit local children of the working poor who need help paying for dental treatment.
