Woody retires after 44 years of educational bliss
by Wood E. Currens
Over the years, one of my favorite questions to ask applicants, whether for a faculty position or a spot in the entering DMD class was, “What do you love?”
After God and family, the responses vary widely. My answer? The University of Louisville School of Dentistry! In saying that, I’m not referring to 129 East Broadway or 501 South Preston. Instead, I’m thinking of the people in those buildings and those who have “gone through” them since 1970, and even before.
The relationships and friendships which developed have meant “the world” to and for me and my family. I do not envision that ending on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
I have received so much more than the little I’ve given. The opportunity to make, to have and to enjoy friends from Hong Kong to Honolulu to Wasilla to Islamorada to Milan and many points in between, is worth more than gold to me! That’s saying a lot since everyone knows what that noble metal means to those of us involved in the dental profession.
THANK YOU for your many and varied “gifts” to me. I love each and every one of you. (It’s great knowing how Tiny Tim felt!)
