MSDS
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are documents which provide detailed information about a chemical’s hazards and how to work with each chemical safely. Each chemical manufacturer or importer is required by OSHA to provide MSDS for all their hazardous chemicals at the time of purchase.
University departments must maintain files of the MSDS for all their hazardous chemicals. If your department is missing MSDSs for any hazardous products, you may use one of the following to obtain a copy:
- Go to the supplier's web page for a copy of the MSDS. Links to main companies that supply UofL are listed on the right.
- Call or write the supplier to request a copy. Most suppliers will fax a copy within 24 hours.
- If you are having trouble obtaining a MSDS, contact DEHS at 852-2949.
