Hazardous Chemical Use Requirements for Research Grants and Contracts
The following (if applicable) are required for DEHS Approval for the use of hazardous chemicals:
-
Completed UofL Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) and submitted to DEHS. For instructions see-
-
Completed chemical inventory and submitted to DEHS. For guidance see-
-
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all “Highly Hazardous Chemicals” involved in this proposal have been prepared. “Highly Hazardous Chemicals” are carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and chemicals with a high degree of acute toxicity. For more information see-
-
Special Animal Safety Protocols (SASPs) are required when hazardous drugs or toxic chemicals or their hazardous metabolites could be excreted from the animals contaminating the bedding materials. For more explanation and already prepared standardized SASPs see-
-
All project participants who will be working with chemicals attended Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste Training provided by DEHS. See your completed Chemical Hygiene Plan cover sheet for training dates.
