This course is mandatory for all persons who manage hazardous waste in laboratories, physical plant services, and other areas of the university. At a minimum, one person from each area that generates hazardous waste must take this course. It offers information about the basics of complying with hazardous waste regulations and instructs university personnel in the procedures for having hazardous waste picked up by DEHS.
The DEHS Lab Safety Coordinator conducts General Laboratory Safety Training monthly and at various other times throughout the year as needed. This training class incorporates the information and training requirements of Paragraph (f) of the OSHA Lab Standard, as well as general lab safety rules and information. P.I. must ensure that all laboratory personnel under their charge who work with hazardous chemicals have received this mandatory training. Newly hired laboratory workers should receive the training as soon as possible after initial work assignment to a laboratory.
Reservations are generally not required. However, for groups of 10 or more it is suggested to contact the DEHS Lab Safety Coordinator at 852-2830 or Hazardous Waste Coordinator at 852-2956.
Attendees should bring their University ID to sign in.
