The EPIC Venus model is shown in two views above and below. The vertical coordinate is a hybrid that smoothly combines an isentropic coordinate aloft with a terrain-following sigma coordinate near the surface.This hybrid is based on the work of Konor and Arakawa
(1997, Mon. Wea. Rev. 125, 1649-1673).
