The following groups are being offered by the UofL Counseling Center during the Spring 2018 semester. All groups are held at the UofL Counseling Center at 215 Central Ave., Suite 201. Call our office at (502) 852-6585 or email the group leaders for more information and/or to sign up to attend.

Understanding Self and Others through Expressive Art

This group will offer participants a nonjudgmental space to incorporate art making into their personal growth and healing processes. We will use a variety of art materials to explore how our creativity can help us cope. Issues commonly addressed include anxiety, depression, mood, relationship concerns, self-esteem, family of origin, etc. 

No artistic experience required!

Staying Afloat: Skills to Cope with Difficult Emotions

This group is designed to help develop and practice healthier and more effective coping skills for navigating difficult emotions. If you have struggled with feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or unable to face life at times, this group is right for you.  This will be a group to help teach essential coping skills to more effectively deal with difficult situations we all face from time to time and a place to connect with others who struggle with becoming overwhelmed by difficult emotions. This group is an open group (students can join throughout the semester), and is available to all currently enrolled UofL students.

Tame Your Critic

Are you hard on yourself or do you put yourself down a lot? This group will help you to reduce self-criticism and to see yourself through more compassionate eyes.

This group has a cap of 8 individuals and requires a screening appointment with Dr. Kalawski.

Stress Group (Anxiety Management) 

This group is designed to help you develop effective Anxiety Management Skills with Cognitive Behavior Therapy techniques in a small group setting.

Graduate Student Support Group

Come join us and meet other graduate students from a variety of disciplines with whom you can share your struggles and successes in both graduate school and life.  Each meeting we will discuss a few of the brief chapters from You are a Bad*ss—How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living An Awesome Life, by Jen Sincero

Group members will need to purchase the book.
