Hard Copy Reserves

(Any physical reserve item that is held at the Circulation desk in your library.)

Materials That Can Be Placed on Reserve:

  • Any books owned by the UofL libraries, unless the item is already on reserve in another library, or belongs to a collection that does not circulate.
  • Any videos owned by the Art Library
  • Personal copies. The Art Library is not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Other personal items such as syllabi and lecture notes.

Materials That Cannot be Placed on Reserve:

  • Journals, reference books and rare books.
  • Coursepacks

Circulation Department:

Materials That Can Be Placed on Reserve:

  • Any books owned by the U of L libraries, unless the item is already on reserve in another library, or belongs to a collection that does not circulate.
  • Instructor’s personal copies. Ekstrom Library is not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Bound classroom documents. (syllabi, old tests, etc.)

Materials That Cannot be Placed on Reserve:

  • Rare books and Special Collection items.
  • Coursepacks
  • Bound Journals from other Libraries.
  • Interlibrary Loan books.

Media Department:

Materials That Can Be Placed on Reserve:

  • Videos or audiotapes owned by the department.
  • Legally-obtained personal copies, including rented video tapes. Ekstrom Library is not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Materials recorded by the Instructional Technology Instructional Support department.

Materials That Cannot be Placed on Reserve:

  • Ekstrom Library cannot place personal copies of videos on reserve that are in violation of copyright law

  • Items owned by individual instructors or their respective departments. The Music Library is not responsible for loss or damage.

Materials That Cannot be Placed on Reserve:

  • Periodicals or Reference materials.
  • Coursepacks
