- Some come to college enthusiastic and hopeful and find college is stressful and difficult. Some tackle school with the extra burden of having emotional or mental illnesses in their backgrounds. In either case, understanding how the demands of college can create or exacerbate struggles with emotional, mental, and personal problems is critical to today's higher education.
