Are you interested in environmental issues and sustainability? Are you thinking of adapting a course or creating a new course to focus on issues of sustainability? If so, please consider this invitation to participate in Green Threads: Sustainability Across the Curriculum. This workshop is sponsored by the Sutainability Council, created this past summer by the President and Provost and chaired by Dr. Barbara Burns.
Green Threads will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2009 with a kick-off dinner on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 (Earth Day).
In this workshop, we will explore a variety of ways to embed issues of sustainability into the curriculum and into our classrooms. Participants will receive an honorarium of $500.00, information on local and regional sustainability issues, and resource materials as well as have opportunities to network with other faculty.
Green Threads participants must agree to:
- Participate in the day long workshop on April 23 (8:45 AM - 5:15 PM) and the kick off dinner on April 22
- Read materials prior to the workshop
- Submit a syllabus for the revised or new course and a paragraph on the intellectual process involved in August
- Report back to the group in an August field trip and a Spring 2010 follow up meal
