Please join UofL Urban & Public Affairs Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. for the UofL Master of Urban Planning (MUP) program Capstone Studio presentation, “Engaging Youth in Planning and Design: A Pilot Project with Western Middle School.” The presentation will take place at the Department of Urban and Public Affairs recently relocated Urban Design Studio at 1606 Rowan Street.

The 2019 Capstone project is a collaboration with students in Lindsey Shewmaker’s 8th-grade science class at Western Middle School and Louisville Metro Government’s Office of Housing and Community Development. MUP students facilitated a 6-week youth engagement process with students at Western Middle with the goal of deciding how to invest $50,000 of Community Development Block Grant funding in the Russell neighborhood. The presentation will review the engagement process and present the youth-led ideas for a vacant lot re-design.

RSVPs are appreciated but not required. Light refreshments will be served.
