"Passing the Baton: Current and Future Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in Louisville" will be held from Noon to 1:30 PM, February 24, 2009.

Panelists will discuss civil rights issues that current and future leaders face, how these leaders relate to race and the lessons younger leaders may learn from current leaders.

Panelists include:

  • Fourth District Appellate Judge Denise Clayton
  • Louisville Metro Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton
  • Senator Gerald Neal
  • Journalist Phillip Bailey

 

The program is part of the law school's Diversity Forum Series and is dedicated to the memory of civil rights activist Rev. Louis Coleman and Alice Wade.

The event is sponsored by the Law School Diversity Committee, Anne Braden Insititute for Social Justice Research, Black Law Students Association, Signature Partnership Initiative, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
