The UofL Minority Teacher Recruitment Project (MTRP) in partnership with American Slave Inc. (ASI), a community organization, will host a free forum for 100 black high school juniors invited to participate in educational topics. The efforts are to enhance the body of knowledge that will impact the learning of African-American students and improve teacher practice.
Students from across Kentucky will arrive on campus, Friday, May 15, 2009 and check into UofL dormitories for a weekend of college orientation and excitement. The opening dinner will be at 7:00 PM with a mixer to follow. Interactive discussion groups and activities will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The summit will be free of charge to each student and one parent accepted into the program.
