This is not an exhaustive list.  Please check this page regularly as more summer programs are added.

Brown-Forman INSPIRE Summer Enrichment Program

Summer program designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to participate in activities related to basic engineering skills in a college environment. The program targets students historically under-represented in engineering, but it is open to all.

Residential program for minority HS students to learn about business career opportunities

Future Scholars Program

An academic enrichment experience for local African American high school students sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences.  For each participant, the Summer Program is structured around a research project supervised by a University faculty mentor and a research/writing class (at the Writing Center) in which students learn to use college-level research methods and appropriate technological aids. Under the supervision of their mentors, participants present their research at a closing ceremony.

Rising African American High-School Juniors/ Monday, July 9 - Friday July 27, 2012/ 10am-4pm/ Presentation of participants' final project is the evening on Friday, July 27th/ free but lunch not included

Summer Law Institute

A seven-day residential program for high school students interested in the law and the legal profession. Students will learn the fundamentals of trial procedure, discuss important legal and social issues, and study how the law affects their lives. This program provides an opportunity to meet and interact with local lawyers, judges, and law professors. Throughout the week, students will be participating in workshops and mock trial practice at the Brandeis School of Law, traveling to the Jefferson County Judicial Center for trial observation and a tour, and visiting Bellarmine’s campus for additional trial preparation. The camp concludes with a mock trial on Saturday.

The E.S.S.E.N.C.E. Program

The purpose of the E.S.S.E.N.C.E. Program is to create an opportunity for young women of color to intentionally participate in activities and relationships that work to improve on who they are. This involves discussions, workshops, field trips, and service projects that relate to building a positive self-esteem, cultural identification, leadership abilities, and strengthening academic skills and goals.

 8th-9th grade African American women/ Monday, June 4- Saturday, June 23, 2012/ 10am-4pm/ There is required closing ceremony on Saturday, June 23rd at 11am/ Free (lunch not included)

Solar System Adventure Camp

Blast off into summer fun with astronaut training, comet making, rocket launching and more!

Students entering grades 2-4/ June 18-22 and July 16-20/ $200 non-members; $180 UofL; $150 members

 Dance Camp

A Dance experience specifically designed for the younger dancer, offering creative movement and ballet to 5-8-year-olds. The camp includes craft projects, story time, and ballet videos as well as the dance classes.

U of L Dance Academy Summer Semester

Ballet classes for the community, in programs for the serious student and the recreational student as well.

Classes are offered for ages 9 through adult/ June 11 - August 3, 2012/Tuition varies with level and offerings ($125 - $450).

LEGO We-Do Mindstorms

Focus of LEGO® WE-DO, MINDSTORMS: 1. Developing skills in science, technology, engineering and math with theme based activities. 2. Students will be able to build Lego models featuring working motors and sensors. Programming robots will also be explored.

3rd, 4th & 5th Graders/ Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 13, 2012/ $100 per student

A Measure of Engineering Summer Camp

Focus of A MEASURE OF ENGINEERING:

1. Measurement, Geometry

2. Scales, Ratios

3. Visualization, Orthographic Projection

4. Mathematics and it’s relationship to engineering will be demonstrated through hands-on activities

5. Professional engineers will be invited to participate with students

7th & 8th Graders/ Monday, July 23 - Friday, July 27, 2012/ $100 per student

 Engineering for Girls

Focus of ENGINEERING FOR GIRLS: 

1. Engineering Drawing/Design Techniques
2. Basic Robotics
3. Simple Machines and
4. Rube Goldberg inspired inventions
5. Interactive discussions with professional female engineers and engineering students
6. Daily tours of engineering labs and facilities

Girls - 6th & 7th Grade/Monday, June 18 - Friday, June 22, 2012/ $100 per student

LEGO Mindstorms

Focus of LEGO Mindstorms is:

1. Learn about power and motor control and integrate math skills in order to program robots to travel appropriate distances and angles.
2. Motor control and movement

5. Programming skills
6. Friendly competition

6th, 7th & 8th Graders/ Monday, July 16 - Friday, July 20, 2012/ $100 per student

 Young Leaders Academy 2012

The McConnell Center offers this annual program to outstanding high school students to help hone their leadership skills. This year's theme, "#OccupyYourMind," will explore how current social, cultural, and economic movements in America are transforming the global landscape and ushering in a new generation of leadership.  Sessions will be led by faculty, staff and students of the University of Louisville and other area institutions and will be conducted at or near an entry level college experience.  Each participant will receive a full scholarship that includes free lodging on the University of Louisville's Belknap Campus, meals, and all conference materials.

 High School Students (Grades 9-12)/ July 25-28, 2012/ free
