President, provost will serve burgers

Hello. My name is Jim, and I’ll be your server.

Wait a minute. Is that U of L President James Ramsey dishing out hamburgers and hotdogs over by that Kroger truck?

As a matter of fact, it is.

Ramsey, U of L Provost Shirley Willihnganz and other university administrators will be serving the food at Friday’s Challenge for Excellence celebration on the Belknap Campus Oval.

In a note sent Monday, Willihnganz asked other university administrators to volunteer for the job as a way to recognize the contributions of faculty, staff and students in meeting the Challenge for Excellence.

“We hope you’ll want to join us in thanking our faculty, staff and students for all they have done to help us make so much progress toward our Challenge goals,” she said.

The celebration will feature a free picnic meal provided by Kroger that will include hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and soft drinks.

The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
