Description: The 9th District and One Stop Drop are holding a Responsible Recycling Event on Saturday, May 11 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at the lower gravel parking lot at the Mellwood Art Center, 1860 Mellwood Avenue. This drive-thru event is free. We will be accepting a multitude of items to be recycled, including paper for shredding, cell phones and handheld electronics, household furniture, clothing, children and baby items, medical supplies, shoes (new, used, and worn out), household building supplies, household electronics, medical supplies, TVs (working and cable ready only), and batteries (rechargeable only). More details will be coming soon.

Description: Louisville's Bike to Work Day Celebration is taking place on Friday, May 17, 2013. Four locations around town will be set up at 7 a.m. so commuters can meet up and ride with others. Then at lunchtime at 4th Street Live downtown, we get together to celebrate the bicycle and give away a bike!
Leading up to the event, we're working to make a bike commuter out of YOU! We're offering free bike escorts if you want to try bicycle commuting, and a commuter challenge!

This is your chance to work with University of Louisville professors and learn skills that will better prepare you for college and the “real world”. Participants must be in middle or high school, under 18 years of age and have parent/guardian permission to participate.
Description: PAL Coalition is partnering with the UofL's (BRICC) Coalition, LMPD and the DEA to hold a prescription drug toss. The drug toss provides residents with a free, safe and convenient way to dispose of expired prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications. Bring these items to either location this Saturday, May 18th, for safe disposal. Containers will be recycled.

Description: The Jefferson County Extension Service is offering a one day rain garden workshop from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm on Thursday, May 30 covering the following topics:
Rain gardens and their role in stormwater management
Landscape/lawn assessment: locating the site for a rain garden
Rain garden construction: size, design, and installation
Plant selection, care, and rain garden maintenance
The event will take place at the Extension Service office at 810 Barret Avenue in the morning and in the afternoon participants will install a rain garden at Breslin Park, 1388 Lexington Road.
