Spring 2012 University Wide Career Expo - Student Information

Who should attend?

Think this event is just for graduating seniors - think again...

Think this event is just for engineering or business majors - think again... 25 of the 41 companies registered to attend are interested in recruiting all majors.

Freshmen: You should attend because it is your chance to gather tons of career information in one room, on one day, from a wide variety of employers who are really interested in UofL students.

Sophomores: You should attend so you can start building your potential network of contacts in preparation for finding a career related part-time job, internship or coop opportunity.

Juniors: You should attend so you can apply for a career related part-time job, internship or coop opportunity.

Graduating Seniors: You should attend with your suit on, resumes in hand and your "A game" sell yourself pitch ready to land your first professional job.

Alumni: Even though the majority of the jobs may be entry level, this is a great opportunity for you to network and sell yourself. You never know what doors this may open.

What should you wear?

Your interviewing suit! The old adage says, "you should always dress for the job you want, not the one you have".

What should you bring?

Your resumes, your interest, your enthusiasm, your firm handshake and your smile!

How do you get the competitive edge at this Career Fair?

Use the Career Development Center to perfect your resume. Use the list of employers above to research the companies in which you are interested. Then, come to the University Wide Career Expo dressed for success with a plan that includes who you are going to talk to and questions prepared in advance from information you have already learned about their organization on the web. Do this, and you are guaranteed to blow your competition out of the room!
