The Health Advocate programs provides opportunities for students to obtain hands-on experience in health promotion!!  The program caters to students of all academic majors.  Students may elect to volunteer for positions in a variety of subject areas including nutrition, sexual health, physical activity, and more.  NEW this semester is a media literacy program which creates student videos to promote health information. Visit our youtube channel to see all the videos.

This program was nationally recognized in Fall of 2010 by the BACCHUS Peer Education Network!

Health Advocates learn about health issues that affect college students and the campus community and collaborate to design and test new programs that address these issues.

The Health Advocates sponsor and co-sponsor educational workshops and campus-wide awareness events to provide high-quality health choices.  They are also available to consult with student organizations and individuals, providing health information and referrals in a comfortable, safe and confidential environment.

Students who have volunteered for at least 1 semester may be applicable to apply for a position as a Health Advocate Leader.  Students in these positions are assigned leadership of a health promotion content area and are responsible for the development of programming and services in these areas.  There are a limited number of positions available so it is essential to have engaged the office in order to be competitive.  Applications are accepted in Spring for those wishing to start employment in the Fall.
