Third Party Billing Information

When an organization, not owned by you or a family member, makes a commitment to pay your educational expenses, they are considered a third party sponsor by the University of Louisville.  When payment is due on your student account, the Univesity bills the sponsor directly. This payment process is termed "third party billing."

A billing authorization form from your sponsor must be provided to the Bursar's Office.  We cannot bill without this form.

Please note that some sponsors only pay approved courses and fees.  It is your responsibility to determine what charges your sponsor plans to pay.

The student is responsible for any outstanding charges not paid by the sponsor.

Sponsorship cannot be grade based.  If your sponsor has chosen to pay based on your grades, you may apply for the Tuition Reimbursement Payment Plan.

The Bursar’s office will not bill a sponsor whose payment is based on grades.

Sponsor's payments are subject to the same federal reporting requirements as other financial aid.
