Kevin R. Gue, Ph.D., is a professor of industrial engineering and director of the Logistics and Distribution Institute in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering.

Dr. Gue's research addresses the design and control of logistics systems, including distribution, warehousing and material handling. He has published in leading journals of his field, including Operations Research and Transportation Science and is co-inventor of several innovative warehouse designs which have been implemented in practice. His work on warehouse design has received multiple best paper awards and the Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers in 2009. Dr. Gue's ongoing research addresses order fulfillment for e-commerce and high-density, puzzle-based material handling.

Dr. Gue teaches courses in manufacturing and logistics systems design and operations at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, and is a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. Prior to joining the University of Louisville in 2014, Dr. Gue held appointments at Auburn University and the Naval Postgraduate School. He was three times voted Professor of the Year in industrial engineering at Auburn University, and received the Louis D. Liskin Faculty Award at the Naval Postgraduate School.
