Prof. Michael Honey

Prof. Michael Honey, A former community organizer in Louisville and Memphis, was educated at Howard University and Northern Illinois University. Now the Haley Professor of Humanities at the University of Washington, Tacoma, and President of the Labor and Working-Class History Association, Honey has published three award-winning books on the history of union and civil rights struggles in the south. Honey’s latest book, Going Down Jericho Road: The Memphis Strike, Martin Luther King’s Last Campaign (2008), won the Robert F. Kennedy book award for human rights studies. The lecture included a slide show and a musical performance, followed by a book signing.
