Serge A. Martinez, M.D., J.D.
Dr. Martinez is a former Professor of Surgery and serves as adjunct facutly advisor at the Institute for Bioethics, Health Policy and Law at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Martinez, an otolaryngology surgeon, has extensive academic and research experience. He received his M.D. from the University of Miami, did his otolaryngology residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, has a law degree from the Western New England College of Law and currently reviews graduate medical school programs for certification. Dr. Martinez has published numerous articles, manuals, books, and book chapters on various medical and surgical topics. His research interests are in medical ethics and ethics education. Dr. Martinez concurrently serves as Vice-Chair of the Biomedical Instittutional Review Board for the University of Louisville Human Subjects Protections Program Office .
