THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL SESSIONS.
Employee participation in this process is critical to the validity of the benchmark study. Completed PIQs will provide the University and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, our partners in the study, with a more accurate basis for the benchmark comparison. The information gathered in the questionnaire will enable PricewaterhouseCoopers to compare actual UofL jobs and their functions to those at benchmark institutions and the job
market. Without the detailed information employees can provide, they would be able to compare only job titles.
Each staff member and classified employee should plan to attend one of the sessions. Supervisors are encouraged to schedule employee attendance at the sessions in a manner that will cause minimal disruption to normal university business. Time-off for employees to participate in this process should be granted as administrative leave.
Please share this memorandum with others in your department who may not have ready access to a computer.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Re: Focus Groups for Benchmark Conpensation Study
Invitations were mailed to 160 employees who were randomly selected by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP to participate in the employee focus group portion of the benchmark staff compensation study.
As Dr. Shumaker stated in his correspondence of April 11 to the campus community, "PricewaterhouseCoopers will hold focus groups to solicit input and gain insight into how the current system can be improved."
Focus group participation is a critical part of the study process and is necessary to obtain accurate information and data. For that reason, I am asking supervisors to allow the selected employees to take administrative leave to attend the meeting at the time and location indicated on the letters that they will receive either today or Monday, April 23.
Eight focus groups sessions are scheduled: four at the Belknap Campus and four at the Health Sciences Center. They will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27. Each focus group will have approximately 20 participants.
If the employee who was selected from your area is no longer with the department, or is on leave, you are at liberty to select another employee to attend the specific session to which the original employee was invited.
Date and time designations may not be changed, nor may additional employees be added.
Please forward this message to those in your department who have supervisory positions. Thank you for your cooperation.
