Choosing a university to study your favorite subject isn't always easy.  Before the inception of the University of Louisville Atmospheric Science program, which meets the National Weather Service (NWS) GS-1340 standard for employment, local students who wished to study atmospheric science and meteorology had to travel away from Louisville to other universities that had such a program.  Now that UofL offers a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science, you can stay at home if you live in the Louisville area, and study this exciting field at a top-notch university that is right in your own back yard!

Are you not a Louisville area native?  There are many reasons to choose UofL.  From the hundreds of different activities for students, to our excelling academic standards, trust that you will go far with a degree from the University of Louisville.  The Atmospheric Science program at UofL continues to grow; and one reason is that our students can study all types of weather in the Ohio Valley / Louisville area.  For example, did you know that the remnants of hurricane Ike brought 80+ MPH winds to our region in 2008?  Hurricanes in Louisville!  We've also seen a small tornado touch down on campus, an historic flood, and a major statewide ice storm.  Our weather is multi-faceted and exhilarating to track and predict, and you will be in the middle of it while studying for your degree in Atmospheric Science at the University of Louisville.
