Funding Opportunities

You are here: Home » Funding Opportunities

This year, in an effort to further the mission of the Center for Asian Democracy, we began offering several new opportunities for funding:

Research Support Fund -- provides funding to support UofL faculty with projects that relate to that mission.  Requests for funding could include assistance with CAD-related travel, seminars, conferences, interviews, data set purchase, or workshops. Applications must be for projects related to the study of Asian democracy. The overall goals of the program are two-fold: first, to broaden the scope of the work of the Center for Asian Democracy and second, to establish or enhance interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Course Development Fund -- provides funding to support the development of new (interdisciplinary) courses that contribute to the greater understanding of democratization and the processes of social, economic and political change in Asia. The overall goals of the program are two-fold: first, to increase interest in interdisciplinary work among both the faculty and students and second, to establish or enhance interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Honors Thesis Support Fund --supports undergraduate students working on an Honors Thesis on comparative analyses of democratization and governance in Asia. The funds are intended to facilitate research on the thesis and may be used for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to: specific educational materials (publications, software); support for conference participation; fieldwork expenses (transportation, accommodation) within the United States.
