2009 International Symposium: China's Rise and Its Impact on Asia

The Center for Asian Democracy recently hosted an International Symposium from March 19-21, 2009 at the University of Louisville.  The conference entitled "China's Rise and Its Impact on Asia," was designed to explore the relationship between China's recent rise in power and the effect it has exerted on various Asian cultures and institutions.  Participation at the conference was extremely high over 100 scholars from all over the world participating.  The conference attracted scholars from all over the United States, China, Taiwan, Guam, and Poland.  Special guest speaker Dr. Tu-Wei Ming from the Harvard-Yenching Institute gave the keynote address to an over-lowing crowd at the Elaine Chao Auditorium in Ekstrom Library to start the conference.
