The Composition Program introduces a tailored English 101 textbook and new journal of student writing

The Composition Program at the University of Louisville (Department of English) will be using a new textbook for most English 101 classes this Fall 2014.  TheEveryday Writer by Andrea Lunsford is a tailored University of Louisville edition with an opening section about the UofL Composition Program (its policies and philosophy) and the first-year experience at UofL. Along with handbook sections on punctuation, grammar, usage and citation/documentation, this textbook also includes sections on writing in the disciplines, critical reading, analyzing arguments, constructing arguments, and writing research papers.  The new textbook features UofL campus images on its front and back covers.

The UofL Composition Program is also rolling out a new journal of student writing this year. Cardinal Compositions is a place for students to publish the work they produce as members of any and all writing courses here at UofL.   In 20115-16, The Everyday Writer will be used in the program's English 101 and 102 courses  with Cardinal Compositions as the introductory section. This printed section will include profiles, arguments, research, and other writing by UofL students.  There will also be a larger online repository for Cardinal Compositions that will be stored and indexed. If you are interested in submitting work for the new journal of student writing at UofL, you can find more information at here.
