Professor Byers, Chair, called the Assembly to order.

The minutes of the Assembly of  December 4, 2009, were approved as distributed.

The Chair recognized Professor Bradley, who moved, seconded by the Curriculum Committee , approval of the proposal for a B.S. in American  Sign Language Interpreting Studies .  Discussion included Professors Bradley and Mastri.

Hearing no call for further discussion of the  proposal, the Chair put the question and the motion  carried without dissent.

The Chair again recognized Professor Bradley, who moved, seconded by the Curriculum Committee, approval of the interdisciplinary minor in Global Public Health.  Hearing no call for discussion, the Chair put the question and the motion carried without dissent.

The Chair recognized Professor Bradley, who moved, seconded by the Curriculum Committee, approval of the Undergraduate Certificate in Legal Studies.  

The Chair introduced Professor Susan Duncan of the Brandeis School of Law.

Discussion of the certificate proposal   included Professors Ziegler, Dietrich, Klotz, Shields, Wise, and Martens.

Professor Wise moved , seconded by Professor Klotz, that the proposal be returned to committee for reconsideration.

Professor Ferre moved, seconded by Professor Klotz, that the Assembly go into Committee of the Whole for discussion of  items to guide the reconsideration.    Motion to go into Committee of the Whole carried without dissent.

It was moved and seconded to rise from Committee of the Whole.  The motion to rise carried.  The Chair stated that the house, sitting as a committee of the whole, made no specific recommendations for the reconsideration of the Legal Studies Certificate

The Chair then called for a vote on the main motion to refer the proposal to the Curriculum Committee.  The motion carried. 

The Chair recognized Professor Bradley, who moved, seconded by the Curriculum Committee, approval of the Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies (Spanish-English/English-Spanish).  Hearing no call for discussion, the Chair put the question and the motion carried.

The Chair recognized Dean Hudson for comments on the budget .

Following the Dean’s remarks, the Chair called for a motion to adjourn.  The motion was made, seconded, and carried.
