Fall 2016 BFA Thesis Exhibition

The Hite Art Institute is pleased to announce the opening of the Fall 2016 BFA Thesis Exhibitions at Schneider Hall Galleries. The exhibition will display artwork in a variety of mediums from those students graduating with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Hite Art Institute. The exhibition will feature the artwork of Blake Beam, Mary Clore, Lauren Cockroft, Kathryn S.W. Harrington, Robyn Kaufman, Jordan Marcum, Ian Pemberton, and Jen Smith with an opening reception and remarks on Thursday, November 17 from 5:00 -7:00pm.

Open Studio Weekend and Exhibition

One weekend each year artists from all over Louisville open their doors for Open Studio Weekend! This event is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who appreciates art, from enthusiasts to collectors, to see artists at work, get a glimpse into the process of making art, and in some cases, take advantage of studio sales. It's such an amazing chance to see the behind the scenes world of your favorite artists - as well as new artists that will quickly become your favorites! This year's event features an exhibition juried by curators from the surrounding region. Location: CressmanCenter for Visual Art

Meet the Professor, Gennaro Vito, "Capital Sentencing in Kentucky"

Prof. Gennaro Vito (Chair, Criminal Justice) has research interests in capital sentencing and attitudes toward capital punishment, police leadership, and the effectiveness of criminal justice programs, such as drug elimination programs and drug testing of probationers and parolees. He will talk about capital sentencing in Kentucky from 1976 – 2010. Specific attention will be given to how capital sentencing operates and the factors influencing this decision at both the prosecutorial and jury levels. Prof. Vito will also discuss how these factors have changed over time. Location: University Club & Alumni Center

The 2016 election has been described as the most divisive in the history of the country. Our distinguished panel will discuss the election, the appeal of Trump, and offer suggestions on how to bridge the racial divide that has resurfaced since the Obama presidency. Location: Yearlings Club
