  • Course evaluations reports for summer are posted. You can access them at blueeval.louisville.edu/ce. Cross-listed courses will post last, so allow extra time for those reports to be available.
  • The university has an Excused Absences Policy that allows students to be absent from class when they participate in university-sanctioned events or activities, the definition of which is as follows: "A university sanctioned event or activity shall be one in which a student represents the university to external constituencies in academic or extra-curricular activities. These include but are not limited to student government congresses, intercollegiate athletic and debate contests, music competitions, academic meetings, and conferences..." Please see the Provost's letter in its entirety.
  • Be sure to take note of the following dates that may impact Fall classes and/or student attendance:

Mail Walk discontinued

A&S Staff meeting on 9/3/14

  • A&S Mail Walk was discontinued effective Friday, August 22. Students will be available on an emergency basis only. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please mark your calendar for an A&S staff meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in Chao Auditorium. A Continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will be available after the meeting as well.  Dean Leonard will provide updates and share her vision for the College. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask the Dean, please submit them directly to Yolanda Demaree no later than August 29, 2014.

New A&S Development team

  • A&S All Stars series kicks off before Saturday home game-day game kickoffs! A&S is launching a public game-day educational program featuring the academic expertise of its faculty called "A&S All Stars." Co-sponsored by Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium and Heine Brothers Coffee. Coffee at 9:30 a.m. and presentations at 10 a.m. More information and registration links: uofl.me/as-allstars2014
  • Meet this year's Inclusion and Equity Interns. After applying and being selected, each intern attends and participates in a series of workshops and guided training based on scholarship and best practices in the areas of inclusiveness and equity. The aim of the program is the cultivation of social justice leadership skills among college students. Interns are also responsible for conceiving of, planning and executing inclusion and equity programming that benefits the campus and Louisville community.See the 2014-15 brochure and list of interns.

    A&S shows up in this year's Kentucky Shakespeare Festival

    • Kudos to Marian Vasser in the A&S Dean's Office of International, Diversity and Engagement Programs (IDEP) for two recent accomplishments: 1) She was nominated for an "Of The Training" award for the "Intent vs. Impact" workshop she led during UofL  Resident Assistant training. 2) She was invited to be one of Leadership Louisville's 100 Wise Women at their event annual event.  She was chosen as a table facilitator because she is "a leader in the community" and has the "capacity to draw people into an excellent conversation."
    • Students in A&S's Latin American and Latino Studies program are getting real-world experience working with the Latino community by tutoring and mentoring children and adults from local Latino families. Read more
    • Under a contract from the Louisville Metro Police Department, Drs. Deborah Keeling and Kristin Swartz, analyzed data on citizens' attitudes toward police and other related issues. The findings of this survey, conducted in late summer/early fall  of 2013 are contained in a report titled "Louisville Metro Police Department, Citizens' Attitude Survey 2013." This report is used by the Mayor's Office as part of a number of performance measures established for LMPD.  It is additionally used by LMPD to assess progress on various components of their strategic plan and to potentially develop new strategies for forthcoming strategic initiatives.  The report is currently posted on the Louisville Metro Police Department website
      • Eleven oral interviews on fair housing in Louisville are the latest addition to Digital Collections at University of Louisville Libraries. The interviews are part of the University Archives and Records Center's Oral History Center and were completed for a 2014 report out of the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research commissioned by the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission.       • Congratulations to Prof. Mark Running who received notification that a large collaborative EPSCoR grant was funded.  His particular 5 year project entitled: "Separation of lignolytic enzymes and high-value proteins using advanced membranes," will support a graduate student stipend.
