Research/Teaching/Service

  • The A&S Graduate Student Union (GSU) awards research funding each fall and spring. Applications are available now on the GSU website. Students use these funds to support travel to conferences, travel for research trips, acquisition of lab equipment and other expenses relating to their education in A&S.

Applications may be submitted electronically by email (asgrad@louisville.edu) or in paper format to Gardiner Hall, LL10A. All applications must be turned in no later than 4:00 pm, Monday, September 15, 2014. Funded students will be notified by email no later than September 19 with further instructions. Students who are not funded will be notified by September 20.

Note: These funds are available to students whose departments have been represented at GSU meetings in the previous semester. Representatives may miss one meeting each semester without jeopardizing departmental access to these funds. These departments have already incurred one absence this semester: Chemistry, Justice Administration, Pan-African Studies, Philosophy, and UPA. If no departmental representative shows at the next meeting, September 10, 2014 or at meetings later this semester, students from that department will not be eligible for these funds in Spring 2015.

    Email Wendy Pfeffer with questions.

  • The Inclusive Teaching Circles (ITC) program provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and graduate students to meet regularly to discuss the meaning and practice of inclusive teaching. At each meeting, participants discuss readings, share ideas, explore new teaching strategies, and provide mutual support for the challenging work of being inclusive educators.

There will be four separate sessions organized on Wednesdays from 12 pm – 1:30 pm on the following dates: 9/10, 10/8, 11/5, and 12/10. Dr. David Owen will facilitate. All sessions will take place at Gardiner Hall 340 and lunch will be provided.

For more information or to register, go to uofl.me/as-itc or email David Owen dsowen04@louisville.edu. Download ITC flyer.
